Heretat Navás
is the fruit of a project shared and propelled by oenologist Joan
Milà and businessmen Xavier Mestres and Joan Soler.
All three embarked on this venture together, the first stage of
which culminated in a wine in which the hallmark of its creator,
Joan Milà, can clearly be noted and savoured. It so happens
that while nurturing Heretat Navàs, Joan
Milà was joined in his efforts by his son, Eloi.
To craft Heretat Navàs, Milà used
grapes from its own estates, measuring a total of twelve hectares
and are divided into three different estates where the varietals
carignane, syrah, cabernet and grenache are harvested.
The grapes are wholly hand-picked, enabling the required and desired
quality of grape to be chosen at all times. Once the grapes have
been harvested, they are transformed into wine and then rest in
French oak barrels for four months, all of this under the watchful
eye of the oenologist, who constantly issues the pertinent instructions.
The three individuals who make up the Terrasses del
Montsant vineyards laid the foundations and provided the
knowledge needed to obtain Heretat Navás 2006, but nature
did the rest. The rugged terrain, which as many discovered before
them is of incalculable value for crafting red wines, and an especially
felicitous climate have been the ideal accomplices for achieving
enviable heights of quality.
The Montsant appellation d'origine has earned the
highest number of points from the famous wine guru, Robert Parker.
It's not for nothing!
